Published: 10-07-2013 | Author: Remy van Elst | Text only version of this article

❗ This post is over ten years old. It may no longer be up to date. Opinions may have changed.

This snippet shows you how to disable the OS X Notification Center completely, the menu item and the sidebar. It also gives you the command to enable it again.

Recently I removed all Google Ads from this site due to their invasive tracking, as well as Google Analytics. Please, if you found this content useful, consider a small donation using any of the options below:

To disable the Notification Center completely, enter the following command in a terminal:

launchctl unload -w /System/Library/LaunchAgents/

Then kill the remains with fire:

killall -9 NotificationCenter

To enable it again:

launchctl load -w /System/Library/LaunchAgents/

If that doesn't work, you can also move the Application and reboot:

sudo mv /System/Library/CoreServices/Notification\ /System/Library/CoreServices/Notification\ Center\
